24 February 2008 - For the love of shoes

Shoes are no longer something one simply wears on their feet, but a passion, a hobby, one's personal statement, a source of authority, sexual independence and joy. They're a constant obsession in pop culture, endlessly talked about and are fetishes in television, movies, song lyrics, and seem to be worn without fail by glamorous celebrities no matter the occasion. The most notorious of the shoe loving pop culture media is of the smash series Sex in the City, in which shoes are one of its main themes.

The year of the Earth OX heralds a revival of fashion styles and designs from past years. For summer, it’s a wide variation and collections of gladiator sandals, stilettos, and platform sandals. For winter 2009, the fashion forecast are shoes such as above the knee boots, ankle boots, lace up shoes, lace up boots, high-heeled shoes, combination of school girl shoes and vamp shoes, cut out boots, and fringed boots.

As the saying goes, the first impression is a lasting impression, thus it is really essential for a woman to pay attention to the type of shoes she wears. These days, a woman really needs a lot of different colours and styles, such as when she works everyday and needs a variety of shoes as well as some that are comfortable. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it...

6 February 2008 - More than Just Flowers – ‘less is more in 2009’

Gone are the days of overpowering floral arrangements adorned with excess filler flowers.

Today's brides opt for a more natural and tailored look to their wedding flowers. One bouquet style rising in popularity is the hand tied bouquet. The fresh bunch of flowers presents the look of simple elegance that bride’s desire.

Today's brides are opting for bold and interesting pairings of colours in their wedding flowers and floral schemes. Mix it up a bit by incorporating produce.

One of the hot trends in wedding flowers is arrangements featuring fruits, herbs and even veggies as a playful and fun approach. Table arrangements are also becoming more dynamic. Instead of conforming to identical floral arrangements on each table, some brides are using different containers, varying the heights, or grouping an assortment of low centrepieces together. Green grasses add dimension and structure and can elicit a warm, summery feeling.

Up to now we've seen one or two bold colours with a neutral overtone however the message is clear bold, vibrant, and daring for 2009, the past is all out the window and on the compost heap.
